Marvin Lindsay, First Presbyterian Church, New Jersey

Rev. Marvin Lindsay is the Senior Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield, NJ where they installed solar panels and an energy efficient HVAC system with help from New Jersey's Clean Energy Program and Investment Tax Credits.

Why did you decide to utilize clean energy? To reduce our carbon footprint and to save money in the long term on energy bills.

What was the transition to clean energy like for you? Did anything surprise you, or were there challenges you had to overcome? The inspection and licensing process took longer than expected, but that was the only hiccup.

What advice do you have for people considering taking the leap to clean energy? I know that affordability varies from state to state, but it really is worth investigating rooftop solar and energy efficient appliances! Find the options that are right for you!

How has using clean energy affected your finances? We received a $2,000 Energy efficient home improvement credit on our 2023 taxes for a new HVAC system, and over $3,000 in credits for installing rooftop solar. We don't have much of a baseline to compare KwH before and after because we installed the system only six months after we bought the house, but our electric bills are low.
