Michael Darling, who has been in the industry for over 20 years, is the Vice President of Safety and Health at SOLV Energy and lives in California.

Why is clean energy important to you? Supplying dependable and renewable energy provides sustainability not only for the environment, but for employment. Many of the jobs created allow families to join the industry and jobs to stay in the local community. This allows a clean environment, power and steady employment for communities.

What’s your proudest accomplishment in clean energy?  Getting recognition as not only the best Green Energy Company to work for - but the safest.

What did you do before entering clean energy? Construction and wind turbine maintenance.

When were you first introduced to clean energy? I was hired as a wind technician in 1998 at the Altamont Pass in California.

What should more people know about your role? Solar energy construction and maintenance provides a sustainable job and energy for the community for a generation.

How does clean energy impact your community? Green energy adds to the energy portfolio - giving the states the ability to manage around weather, conditions and advance the grid.

What does clean energy mean to you and your family? This job has provided a good living, ability to advance a career, and ability to interact with the community.

Why should Congress invest in clean energy jobs, not fossil fuel jobs? Sustainability.
