Jon Salmon, who has been in the industry for 14 years, is
Business Development Manager for the Wind Market at Enerpac.

Why is clean energy important to you? The quality of human life depends on energy, and it is crucial that we utilize energy in a way that is not harmful to our environment. Clean energy, in many forms, is the solution to this.

What’s your proudest accomplishment in clean energy As operations manager and fleet engineering manager, my work has contributed greatly to the production of wind energy.

What did you do prior to working in clean energy? Engineering manager in heavy equipment and semiconductor industries.

How did you first get introduced to clean energy? My awareness and concerns about environment and pollution led me to take a role in the ethanol biorefining industry. I then continued my career in clean energy in the wind industry.

What do you wish more people knew about the clean energy industry? There are a lot of people working very hard to grow the clean energy industry.

What does your job mean to you and your family? My job gives me the satisfaction that I am helping society move towards a cleaner energy environment.

How is clean energy helping your community / state? I am a resident of Iowa, and Iowa gets much of its energy from wind and solar, and is continuing to grow these energy sources.

Why should congress invest in clean energy jobs? Fossil fuel is still needed to meet our energy demands, but we will benefit greatly by increasing the amount of clean energy we produce.
