Why is clean energy important to you? Clean energy is important to me because it offers a sustainable solution to address climate change and protect our planet's future. By reducing reliance on fossil fuels, clean energy helps to minimize harmful emissions and preserve our environment for future generations. Moreover, it promotes energy independence and security for countries, ensuring a more stable and self-sufficient future.

What’s your proudest accomplishment in clean energy? My proudest accomplishment in clean energy has been successfully building a robust business development pipeline for SCADA equipment and services, amounting to 1.65 GW. It was an immense challenge, especially considering the company had no prior track record in the US market, but the hard work paid off.

What did you do before entering clean energy? Before working in clean energy, I obtained a degree in biology and graduated with distinction. I also joined the military while in college to help cover my tuition expenses. Additionally, I worked as a part-time phlebotomist during my time as a student, gaining valuable experience in healthcare.

When were you first introduced to clean energy? I started working in business development for utility scale PV SCADA equipment. Ever since then, I have developed a deep passion for renewables and I haven't turned back since.

What should more people know about your role? One thing I wish more people knew about my job in the renewable energy industry is that our goal is not to entirely replace conventional generation with renewables right away. We are actually working towards a transition into a more sustainable mix of renewable and fossil fuels. Once the risk associated with clean energy is minimized, we can then smoothly transition into a greener energy future.

How does clean energy impact your community? Clean energy is making a significant impact on my community as it has helped reduce our carbon emissions by a substantial amount. Not only are we seeing cleaner air and improved public health, but clean energy initiatives have also created numerous job opportunities and boosted the local economy. Additionally, the availability of renewable energy has made our state less dependent on fossil fuels, enhancing our energy security and resilience. The appearance of electric buses for public transportation and community scale solar farms are two ways I see clean energy impacting my community on a daily basis.

What does clean energy mean to you and your family? My job in clean energy means a lot to me and my family. It allows me to contribute to something larger than myself, especially after leaving the military. I take pride in helping the US transition to renewable energy and in turn, making it easier for other countries to follow suit.

Why should Congress invest in clean energy jobs, not fossil fuel jobs? I firmly believe that Congress should prioritize investing in clean energy jobs instead of fossil fuel jobs. Not only are fossil fuels exhaustible resources, but they also pose a significant threat to our planet's health. By shifting our focus to clean energy, we can ensure a sustainable and eco-friendly future for generations to come.
