Peter Bryn is the director of business development at Volta Hydrogen, and he lives in Seattle, Washington. He’s been in the industry for 6 years.

Why is clean energy important to you? Clean energy is critical to addressing climate change and, more obvious to most people, to addressing local pollution problems.

What’s your proudest accomplishment in clean energy? Designing and selling several all-electric battery powered ferry designs for several operators including the largest ferry operator in the Americas.

What did you do before entering clean energy? Worked in oil/gas as a marine engineer/naval architect in various roles.

How did you first get introduced to clean energy? I've always focused on it. I started in oil/gas because there wasn't as much obviously available in 2007 when I began my career. But, I've always had my eye on how to advocate for decarbonization both personally and professionally.

How does clean energy impact your community? Washington (and my former home of Texas) are both renewable energy powerhouses with lots of potential to bring cheap power to the grid. This role is very exciting because it is the first time in my career I've been able to work 100% on a zero-emission solution.

What is something you wish more people knew about your job? I hope more veterans learn that their skills and passions, developed during military service, are directly applicable and severely needed in the clean energy sector.
